Graduation

I can remember my grad in 1995. I didnt have a date. I didnt dance with any fellas. My mother came the grad, but we didnt have a car back then so she had to wait for a drop and I was constantly checking on her. I spent the night by my friend's house and limed the next day.

It wasnt the best, but at least I have that memory. At least I had my grad to look forward to after CXC. The Form Fives at my school dont have a grad to look forward to..at least not in July.....

The school decided that because they were so ill behaved they dont deserve a grad.

That sucks!

love is in the air

Right now I am home all alone. My boyfriend is working late tonight and he did not take his cell. When yuh not accustomed nah.

He is such a sweetie pie eh. Last night he made us a wonderful dinner of fried fish and fresh salad. It was delicious. He is such a good cook.

We are really working hard at the problems and we intend to make things last.

daddy's little girl

I was watching CNC3 news and the question on Teen Talk was " Who is your role model?" And the girl being interviewed said her daddy. She said that her mom wasnt in her life as much as she would like, but her dad would wash her clothes and always be there for her. She said that although he went to a junior sec school, he still tries to help her with her work.

I found that was so sweet eh. And I am really glad that there are some men out there doing their jobs as dads. As a teacher, whenever I meet a mother, I always have to ask what is the relationship with the father. More often than not, it's poor.

It infuriates me, as one who had a wutless father.
It made me strong; however with these boys, who knows what the effect might be.

why does the weekend fly so fast?

I just love the weekends. I dont have to think about school. But then Sunday evening hits and I have to do these things called 'lesson plans'.

*thumbs down*

so tired

This is the last term of the year and I am tired. It's really hard to get up in the morning and reach early for school. I reach just on time. ME!! Reaching just on time.

I think when I visit Mommy I will try to invest in some vitamins.

so silly

I was quite pleased with my form three class today and I left on a high note. As I am walking back to the staffroom, a boy says, "You're an f***ing buller." So I called him, he ignored me. I called him again, he ignored me again. He strolls to the pipe and sips water, all the while I am calling him. His argument was that I didnt hear what the other boy said to him. I replied, "EXACTLY! I heard YOU!" Idiot. I cant punish the other boy if I didnt hear him.

So I took him to the dean, where his mother has to be called in.

Note 1: All I was going to tell the boy was that such language is not acceptable in the corridor especially with teachers around and to watch his language. I would have sent him on his merry way and he would have enjoyed his break time.

Note 2: One of his parents is an official in the Church. His parent led a chapel service last Friday urging the boys to be 'good fish.' I wonder what type of fish this boy is.

Note 3: He's weak and teachers acknowledge that and are willing to help him, but with a nasty attitude so, who would want to? Yes we're teachers, but we are human beings first.

Bottom line, the boy would not have gotten into trouble if he had just listening to my two minute speech. It would have gone in one ear and out the next, but he definitely wouldnt have gotten into trouble.

I hate Mondays

Dont you hate Mondays?

The week always starts off with an assembly. Ever since I was in school I always asked myself what was the purpose of assemblies? I still cant see the purpose except to make us stand up in the sun.

STEUPS.

I am excited about TRYING to eat healthy...stress on TRY. It's really hard to say no to some food, but I have cut out soft drinks, I dont eat chocolates, cakes anymore, well...unless there is a sale in school. It's to raise funds!! No KFC . So I hope that's a start.

I seem to have a love for Carol's tamarind balls. As far as I know tamarind is a fruit, so I am still healthy, but the sugar isnt so good.

My mommy's love language

I finally figured it out!!

My mommy's love language is Acts of Service.

What do you think your Love Language is?

1. Words of Affirmation
2. Receiving Gifts
3. Quality Time
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch

Mother's Day

I tried calling my mother today but I couldnt get through. When I did, I got the answering machine. Knowing her, she's out somewhere having fun.

My mother is not the most perfect mother you would find. She has made a lot of mistakes. But one thing I saw her do on an almost daily basis was sacrifice. She did a lot of that for us to be where we are today. She gave up money she could have spent on herself, for us to go to school.
I remember us not having money to go to school, but I scrimped up about $4.00 to go. The fare to POS was $2.00 by maxi. I had nothing to eat save except for an end of bread, but I just didnt want to stay home. My mother came to pick me up after school and she had a roti for me. That is to tell you how I was on her mind.

She allowed me make my own decisions when it came to my education. Imagine she wanted to put Convent POS as my choice. Hmph..glad I had more sense than that. heh.

She is the only parent I have now...but it has been that way since I can remember.
My mommy is the best!!!

My Saturday

My niece's school put on a Mother's program today. I was slightly annoyed because it started an hour and a half late, plus I didnt eat any lunch, so I was VERY hungry. But three things made those bad feelings go away.

1) I got something small to eat at intermission.

2) I saw my niece interacting with her friends and I realised what a tall girl she is going to be.

3) I won two makeovers each valued at $100 courtesy Sacha Cosmetics!! YAY!!!

I wont be selfish though. I'll give one away.

Work week

I must say this week was a cool week.

As usual I have fun with my form ones. We're playing a conjugation games..loads of fun and a cool way of reinforcing the work.

I was sick. I came down with the cold and it is kinda keeping me back. Hopefully it will got away.

The horse is dead

It's amazing how someone can carry on and on and one and on about something. Something that has gone by MONTHS now. I mean, give it a rest!!!

Now I find THAT pathetic.

Personal responsibility

I think that some people at my school dont know the meaning of the word RESPONSIBILITY.

A boy in my class migrated and has not been in school for last term. Lo and behold, he has about four marks. I went to the principal because as form teachers we are supposed to report anomalies as well as the complaints students had about their reports. So I did that, thinking it was just a matter of checking the spreadsheet.
To put it in a nutshell, one of the teachers was mad at me. It looks as if I told on him because the principal alluded to the fact that he was a slacker.

Now if the principal did call you that, how is that MY problem? I dont believe that is the way it should have been handled, but if yuh do shit, OWN it!
