Two things happened to me today that made me think that some of my elders dont deserve my honour , as the National Pledge says.
A teacher in my dept at school did a listening exam with some form 3s, after which, she went through the paper with them. By doing so however, she compromised the intergrity of the test for the other two classes who didnt do the exam as yet. She offered no apologies to the other French teachers. Her solution was to mark the students hard in the long paper. WHAT???
She has more experience than anybody else in the dept and that is the shit she will come up with?? She doesnt even say, Let me make up another exam for you. She just does nothing.
This incident is one in just a list of incidents that have occurred with her.
She comes to dept meetings late ALL the time. She comes to school LATE. She goes to classes LATE. I hope she isnt hard on the children if they are late for class. Later in the day she would come on the staffroom and complain about the children. Ahhhmm...you eh setting the example, but yuh want perfection from them? Who the hell are you?
One morning I was tempted to tell her something, but then I thought to myself: 1) She has been spoken to on several occasions; it might just be overload. 2) there is someone in charge of the Dept to deal with stuff like that. Bleh to you, Miss!! You suck as a teacher!!!
The other incident took place at Keep Fit class this afternoon. We were told by Sensei to get out our mats. I put my mat down getting ready for situps when I heard "hello" in a gruff voice. When I looked up, it was an elderly lady (no more than 50, I believe). I reacted kinda slowly because I really didnt know it was me she was talking to. Then she said, "Move! (mumble mumble mumble) what happen to you?" I told her that's not the way to speak to people, but I dont know if she heard me because the volume of the music increased at that point.
My friend said to ignore and put it down to her age. But still, that's no excuse!!! All she had to say was 'excuse me!!", not 'move!' On my out, she was blocking the door. I could have said "Move!", but that would just be resorting to the behaviour that I found was unaccpetable.
During the ride home, I thought about it and I said to myself that she is an elder and that is the example she is setting for me. No wonder the children these days in a fucking mess!!!! Some of the adults around them dont set a proper example!! The country is calling for the blood of those two children invloved in the Sean Luke case, but the question must be asked: What example did the people around them show? Did they teach them about respect for other people?
I tell you.........
