Brokeback Mountain
The movie started off a bit slow for me, but gradually it picked up and had a viser grip on my attention till the end.
Some high points for me:
- The scenery. Lush green mountains, crisp clean river water.
- A lot of critics spoke about Heath Ledger's performance. But the guy who stood out first was Jake (cant spell his last name). He gave an awesome performance as well and must not me underemphasized.
- Heath Ledger. Fantastic performance.
- Anne Hathaway. It was great seeing her in an adult role and not some movie geared for a children's audience. I hope she gets more roles like this.
- The few sex scenes. The way some people tell it, this movie was just chock full of gay sex, but it wasnt. You have about one major sex scene and the other two scenes were just them kissing deeply.
Bottom line: Go see this movie. You forgot the guys are gay and are caught up in their lives and their lies. You want them to be together, to live the life that Jack Twist dreams of, but in your heart you know that it cant happen today in 2006 far less for the 1970s.
